Understanding the mystery of healing and miracles – Is healing for today and is it for everyone?

You are listening to:Understanding the mystery of healing and miracles – Is healing for today and is it for everyone?

The Bible says in Isaiah 53:4-5,Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.

Matthew 8:17 tell us that Jesus, on the Cross, bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, to remove them from us. I Peter 2:24 declares “by His stripes we have been healed”.

Jeremiah 33:6
Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

In many parts of the Bible, Jesus demonstrated that Healing is God’s will for us. Let us look at some of them…

Matthew 12:15 says, “. . . many people followed him. He healed all the sick among them,

Matthew 14:36 says, “They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed”.

Luke 6:19 says, “Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone”.

Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever”.

Mark chapter one gives us an account of a leper coming to Jesus for healing wondering if it was his will to heal him.

Let us also look at Mark 1:40-42.

“A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed”.

Here we see God’s will at work. According to the Scriptures, healing didn’t stop happening when Jesus ascended to the Father. The Book of Acts gives us numerous examples of people being healed in the church.

James states in James 5:14-15,

“Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well . . .

God’s will for believers today is healing. The enemy – the devil wants people sick and diseased. In Heaven, everyone is well and the Bible says in the Book of Matthew chapter 6 that God’s WILL is done here on the earth as it is in Heaven.

Open your Bible to Matthew 6:10:12:

“ 9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen”.

Jesus never made people sick or diseased. Instead, he healed them and therefore as a reflection of God’s character and will, people of God / believers ought to preach healing in their churches and ministries.

We as a believers hate what sickness and disease do to people, and we delight is seeing people well. Just as God is against people having to pay the price for their own sins, so God is against disease and sickness being part of our lives. When it comes to the benefits of God’s will, they are available to us in a variety of ways. God wants us well, and he uses a variety of methods and channels to help us get well. One of the ways is through medical science.

He is also still “willing” to heal us supernaturally if we are willing to belief Him for it as he did to the man with leprosy in Mark 1:40-42 or even with the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34.

Let us settle it now

If Jesus paid for our healing, it’s ours now. If it’s a promise that is included in Christ’s atoning work, it’s ours now. If it’s a promise that Jesus solidified at the time of his death, burial, resurrection and ascension, it’s ours now, 100% of the time.

God’s promises that are available in Christ are various and plentiful, touching on just about every aspect of life. He has made promises for salvation, provision, guidance, peace, health, and much more
